Quincie-Alysha Taylor

A diverse dance instructor and choreographer, Quincie Taylor is an active dancer performing throughout the GTA. Choreographing dynamic pieces with a story to tell, Quincie’s signature style consists of fusing hip hop grooves and contemporary modern techniques to create a unique aesthetic: a fusion of hard-hitting movement, contractions, and soft grooves.

After falling in love with stage performance at age six when she began dancing, at sixteen Quincie knew that choreography was her passion. She has choreographed music videos, concept videos, and Toronto dance shows; college and grade school workshops; for private clients; and for recreational and competitive dance studios. Many of her competitive routines have won choreography awards. She currently trains and performs with Boss Dance Company and School of Groove, a Hip Hop Dance company led by an all-female faculty. As part of School of Groove, Quincie recently performed the opening number for Jully Black’s Canada Day performance in Mel Lastman Square; in the same year, she also performed for Arts in the Park which was attended by mayor John Tory.

Her extensive dance background includes Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Modern, Contemporary, Lyrical, Hip Hop, and Acrobatics. Since she first entered the world of competitive dance at age twelve, Quincie has competed in various styles at many competitions throughout her preprofessional career, achieving top scores and winning overalls as well as other special awards. She gained a wealth of performing experience from the four years she spent working with Ballet Jörgen and Coleman Lemieux & Compagnie, after which she continued to challenge herself and expand her repertoire.

Already a certified member of the British Association of Teachers of Dancing (B.A.T.D.) since 2016, in 2017 she was proud to be part of the first graduating class of Centennial College's Dance Performance Program, after which she joined several programs such as Dark Dance Company and The Xperiment program. Quincie went on to train in ballroom (both in smooth and rhythm styles), at the Arthur Murray dance school where she soon after taught private and group classes. As someone who thrives on sharing her knowledge to inspire others, Quincie loves teaching all styles of dance to students of any age, many of whom have gone on to be accepted into arts programs. You can find her performing at Toronto industry shows and charity events, or in music videos, and concept videos.
