Kyla Featherstone
Kyla Featherstone is a Toronto-based choreographer and teacher. Having grown up in Ottawa, Kyla has had the opportunity to dance with and choreograph for well- known Ottawa Drag Queen, “Devona Coe”. This has allowed her work to be showcased on stages such as the NAC (National Arts Centre) in Ottawa, as well as many Pride events.
Kyla is experienced in choreographing and teaching a variety of styles including contemporary, jazz, tap, hip hop, and lyrical. She has choreographed for the University of Ottawa’s Varsity Dance Team, as well as many competitive and recreational studios in the Ottawa and Toronto areas. She has also entered choreography competitions such as Breaking Boundaries Movement, in which she won the award “Limitless Artistry” for her small group and duet, and has received “Regional Choreographer of the Year” at Canadian Dance Awards.
Growing up, she trained under and completed all of her ADAPT Jazz and Tap exams. She is a graduate of Intrepid Dance Company in Markham, Ontario, where she had the privilege of training under Mitchell Jackson, Linda Garneau, Derick Robinson, and more. This has led to her dancing in many concept videos, as well as dancing backup for Rêve. Kyla looks forward to continuing to share her passion and love of dance with the next generation.
